Computer Recycling

How Are Computers Recycled?

When Bluegrass Recycle receives a server or computer, the systems are quickly evaluated as to whether they are reusable or if they are scrap. If a computer is reusable, the hard drives are destroyed and the unit is either donated, resold as a system, or parted out.

If a computer is deemed scrap (which happens most of the time), the computers are de-manufactured, asset tags and any company logos are scrapped from the case, and the hard drives completely destroyed. Individual components are sorted and separated into various commodity levels and sent downstream to industry certified domestic processors.

Bluegrass Recycle provides computer and electronics recycling within a 200 mile radius of Louisville, KY. These areas include Charleston, WV; Cincinnati, OH; Nashville, TN; Indianapolis, IN; and surrounding communities.
